when it rains, it pours

What do you do on your only day off in a Cambodia when it rains? Our travel book only recommends beach activities and this rainy season is so, well, rainy! Usually it rains for a few hours in the afternoon, but the past few days it’s been constant a downpour. So, instead of spending our day off at the beach, this is what we did:

sipped coffee

ate banana pancakes

scored some sweet ponchos

ventured out in the rain to explore the market

got wonderful $8 massages

got $8 massages

drank flourescent orange tea

walked through an art gallery where all the paintings were done by children

learned that this art gallery is an awesome non-profit organization that helps get kids off the street by giving them a place to go after school, feeding them a hot meal, teaching them to paint and then selling their artwork to help support them.

bought the most adorable piece of artwork created by a 4-year-old

made friends with 2 girls at the beach who made us a bracelet that says Davey ❤ Jess. We talked about America, Justin Beiber, their families, their dreams of becoming tour guides and then invited them to our English class so they can learn about Jesus.

watched a man cast out his fishing nets with amazing skill

wandered up these beautiful steps

So, although we started the day off being disappointed because it was raining and there was nothing to do, we ended up having a pretty cool day off in the rain.

  1. We’ll never let a bit rainy weather stop our adventures, will we? That’s just one of the many things I love about you! I hope your new friend, Sreynah, comes to English class.
