dirty dishes

{grumble, grumble} How can only 2 people fill up a sink with so many dirty dishes?! {grumble, grumble} Then I came across this poem and now I don’t hate, loathe and despise doing dishes… as much:

Thank God for dirty dishes, they have a tale to tell.

While others may go hungry, we’re eating very well.

With home, health, and happiness, I shouldn’t want to fuss

By the stack of evidence, God’s been very good to us.

This little poem can apply to all the annoying chores… laundry- thank God we have clothes and people to wear them, washing the car- thank God we have a car to drive, vacuuming- thank God we have a house with floors (as opposed to one without floors? That doesn’t make sense) (plus I love vacuuming for some reason. I get so much satisfaction sucking up all the stuff on the floor.), dusting… uh, there’s nothing good about that one. I think my mom would agree, ironing- I don’t do it and so thank God for water and a good shake to get out the wrinkles.

Here’s another quote I stumbled upon while wishing that dust would dissolve automatically once it hit the furniture, and that we had a dishwasher, and one of those robot vacuums that cleans the floor automatically, and a professional maid:

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates vision for tomorrow. -Melody Beattie

And so a yule log video = a fireplace while sitting by the christmas tree

and the snow falling on our blog = a white christmas

  1. Thanks for the blog invite, and I loved the “Hark” picture.
Your tree looks great, you should see our tree. It’s truly a Charlie Brown tree 🙂
